Poll: Who here is interested in Buying the New Ford EV Midsize Pickup in 2027

I for one will be ordering one on the first day the order banks open.

I guess that like the Maverick there will be XL, XLT, Lariat versions (or whatever they will call them) and I usually don't order the barebones but one step higher.

So just guessing the MSRP price for the one level above the base will be $34,000 plus destination charge which will bring the price to around $36,000 before TT&L.

I have had a Maverick XLT Hybrid since December 2021.
MY2022: December 13, 2021 through August 28, 2023 when it was sold to Carvana
MY2023: September 21, 2023 through present and will keep until one month before delivery of the New Ford EV Midsize Pickup when it too will be sold to Carvana.

It has served it purpose just fine but I do not need it for any long trips as the wife's 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid handles that just fine.

In the 23 months I have owned the 2023 Maverick I only have 9300 miles on it and that included a 2800 mile vacation in 2024.

These are the points that I feel the New Ford EV Midsize Pickup will be better long term than my current Maverick Hybrid.

Lower maintenance costs



Also no trips to the gas station

Most of my trips average about 2 miles and the longest about 25 miles round trip and as seen above I average about 10 miles a day as we are both retired.

Only charging at home at night.

The New Ford EV Midsize Pickup will serve all my needs: Hauling our eBikes (trailer hitch mounted carrier) and the occasional truck bed stuff for our lawn and garden needs.
I will stick with the traditional hybrid for several years. I don't have an enclosed garage, so a non-in-hybrid is perfect for me. Until it isn't any more or something better comes along.

If my state didn't kill you in doc fees, registration, sales tax, property tax and insurance, I'd probably have a well used Nissan Leaf in the driveway to pair with the Maverick. EV's are 2nd cars for most consumers, I'd imagine. Since the dealership, state and local Govts. makes it cost prohibitive, I'll stick with 1 new vehicle every decade.

Fleet managers will do the math and decide from there if they like the EV pickup.

I have ZERO interest in any EV with the current infrastructure and battery technology, especially from Ford. Not gonna live my life planning my route, time, etc around a vacant charging spot to get down the road a little further.
Make no mistake charger hopping sucks. I don't care what the influencers try to portray. And at this stage it is still a valid concern that chargers might be down, broken, full, and I have more than once navigated to a charger to find out the business there is closed because it is after hours so you don't even have access to a bathroom. You end up looking for some place local you can walk to while the car is charging, or try holding it while the car charges and then make another stop. Just more negatives than positives by a long shot. The more stops the more trip overhead and time gets eaten. If you have places you have to be this gets old fast.

A dirt cheap EV for local commute, errands could make a lot of sense for a lot of people. You are 100% over the target here.

I think for the fleets it probably makes the most sense.

Comparison to Gas Stations:

This unreliability is a stark contrast to gas stations, which are generally more reliable, according to a study by Bloomberg.com.

Anyone thinking it will be 30 K is in DREAM land even if it is 150 mile range. NO WAY NO HOW.

The telo EV truck starts at 41K and its small. its 4 door but rear doors are tiny. Has zero protection for front crash (death machine) . . Yet that is 41 K to start lol .

Bare bone Slate 27.5 K Two door stripped completely even no paint. Yet still 27.5 K , 150 mile range LOL.

Just a dream IF anything comes out start at 40K stripped. Not as stripped as Slate but XL equipment like. and low range maybe 190 . I wont bother to bore you what REAL range is.

Well then to add insult to injury the cost of public charging is OUT OF CONTROL. Prices have skyrocketed. Charging at home is the only way it makes any sense. 95% of most peoples driving is local stuff so you just don't think about charging, but when if you need to take that road trip you are going to pay for it. Anyone who cannot charge at home should not own an EV is my personal opinion.

If it is compelling enough, maybe. I'm not overly concerned about range as wife and I will take the Expedition on trips. But for local "truck stuff," I'm fine with an EV Maverick-sized truck if it looks like a truck. Price and immature tech are what has kept me out of the Lightning.

Buddy has Tesla and a hybred van. Says it is cheaper to drive the hybred van.

Primary reason I sold my M3 (that and I fell in love with the Tremor).

I was paying around $0.22-$0.26 per kwh to charge at SCs when I first got it and that moved to $0.41-$0.56 on road trips and that would make my average eMPG around 25-30.

Agree, until public charging is properly regulated, wide-spread EV adoption is a distant dream. I would have never bought our MachE if we could not charge at home. It's a compelling case however, if you can charge at home with decent utility rates. We daily drive well under the range (up to ~300miles), so we are seeing significant fuel savings. And the driving experience is fantastic. I also appreciate one less vehicle to perform "normal" maintenance on.... 😘

Lack of chargers (#), is a dealer killer.
I didn't even consider the "Price Gouging" that WILL HAPPEN"..as Charging FEEs... 😒

Not surprising. With your Real World knowledge/experience with an EV, that eMPG puts a Large Dent in all the marketing & influencers claim of such high savings over our EB & Hybrid Mavericks with an EV. Granted I can see some maintenance expense saved with an EV but my understanding is they EAT the tires designed for EV use so that nulls that $ savings advantage out. My guess is a HUGE number of homes electrical service across the US as a whole would have to have expensive electrical upgrades to support charging at a decent rate beyond the common 120V outlet in most garages or outside receptacles. For my use cases, they all can stick the EV's up where the sun don't shine - especially with todays tech and charging infrastructure
